The real insect farmer, Happy father’s day!

If you follow my blog for a long time, you may ask yourself how I could be an insect farmer, blogger and travel for my missions. If during this time, my insect farm was running perfectly, it’s because of the work of my priceless assistant and best friend, my Dad.

Insect breeder, mealworm farmer, entomophagy

When I speak about what I did and how I started, it could look like a small “success story”. Wanting to work in the edible insect industry, I spent the last 3 years learning entomophagy and everything related to it. While doing that, I started a home scale mealworm farm at home and blog without any experience in blogging, only knowing that it will work one day. Finally, I travelled to 3 continents, I met amazing people, I’ve been consultant for a project in China and now I’m working with Jimini’s where we are developing delicious edible insects products.

It really looks like I’m a “self-made man”, but that’s wrong, nobody is self made. If today I wake everyday like it’s Christmas working in a company where we are moving the things forward, there is a man behing the scene : My father. At every step, you were and are here for me, you deserve those word on father’s day.

The real insect farmer

When I started farming edible insects 5 years ago in my living room; I have to admit that a lot of people made fun of me. Breeding mealworms and eating them? Are you nuts? But not you. You helped me build our home scale farm and a few months after, you started your own insect farm. After that, when I came back living with you, you handled perfectly our 2 farms. Then, when I started working in the field, I knew that our farm will always be perfect because you took a great care of it. Finally, if hundred of people ate delicious home-raised roasted mealworms insects in Alsace and beyond, it is because of you : The real insect farmer.

An insect farmer and a lot more!

But that’s not all… You didn’t only be a great insect farmer, you were here at each step. My first blog post reader and follower; it’s you. The one who went with me from Wageningen in the Edible insect centre to Switzerland for meeting the Bug-Chef, it was also you! I can find your help and presence at every step.

Dad, for you who come with me observing insects, I will finish with a quote from Jean-Henri Fabre, the famous entomologist. The description he made of a beetle suits perfectly with what you did for the past 30 years

Your children you will rise the best you can and proudly.

Your loving son

Formerly I'm an environmental engineer, personal trainer, fitness nutrition specialist and "Entotarian". In the edible insects industry for five years, I've been consultant for an insect farm in France, free-lance writer and international speaker. After developing the world's first table-top farm, I'm now in Paris with Jimini's where we are developing and selling delicious insects. I would say that my life revolves around eating insects.
