The “ABCD” Ring
Hello everyone!
It’s been quite a long time that I didn’t share with you some recipe… So let me introduce you the “ABCD Ring”
What’s that?
I really wanted to create something that “bug” me : A simple snack with natural product. An apple, some dark chocolate, some nuts and mealworms, nothing else is necessary… Purity, simplicity : health and pleasure, that’s all, that’s life…
I chose this name because every ingredient’s name in this recipe begin with the first 4 letters of the alphabet and also because “ABC” is the basis and, for me, edible insects are the “D”, the development, the evolution, the step forward.
Before saying that an apple ring with chocolate, mealworms and nuts is weird, please remember that someone mixed a croissant and a doughnut and everybody is saying that’s an amazing idea!
The ingredients
Preparation time : 30 min
Rest time : 2 hours in the fridge
For 6 rings :
- 2 fresh apples or 12 dried apple rings
- 50 grams of fresh mealworms
- 40 grams of different nuts (almonds, chestnuts, brazil nuts, cashews)
- 70 grams of dark chocolate (70%)
- Coconut oil
Directions
You can dry your apple rings in a dehydrator or in the oven at low temperature.
Information : I personnaly dried my apple in a dehydrator for 7 hours at 130°F.
In a hot greased pan with a little bit of coconut oil, fry your mealworms at medium-high heat for 8 minutes (when you will hear the first popping, it will be ready!)
Information : The mealworms have first been thawed and then rinsed in cold water.
Crush the nuts.
Melt the chocolate in a double boiler
Mix the chocolate, the crushed nuts and the mealworms in the double boiler.
Place the bottom layer of the apple ring on a baking sheet.
Add a generous layer of the hot mix on the apple and cover with the second apple ring.
Let cool in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
Et voilà! Bon appétit!
I hope you will try this “ABCD ring”! If you liked it and tried some variations of this recipe, please leave a comment! (This recipe is a new version of the “Buggy Frutti Advent Wreath“)
My next post will be the review of the new product made by Jiminis : “Le criquet au Paprika”. A delicious appetizer! I hope you will enjoy it.
Take care and see you soon!
